Hi! My name is Mrs. Kelly Johnson and I am excited to once again be part of the dynamic Westlake Charter School teaching team! More importantly, I am THRILLED to be your child's teacher!!
I was raised in southern California. I moved up north for college, where I received my BA in Liberal Studies and my Teaching Credential from Chico State University. While in northern CA, I met my amazing husband, Kyle. We married and relocated back down to Southern California, where I accepted my first teaching position. I spent the next 6 years, teaching 1st and 2nd grade at the elementary school I attended as a child. During that time, I went back to school and earned my Master of Education in Educational Technology from Azusa Pacific University.
In 2001, we felt called to move up to a growing community in northern Sacramento, Natomas. That summer we welcomed our first daughter into our family. I spent the next 10 years growing our family. We have two amazing daughters, Makenzie (14) and Bailey (12) and one delightful son, Carter (8). Though my own children were (and are) my biggest priority during those years, my passion and love for teaching always continued. In 2005, I heard about a new charter school starting to form. From my very first parent meeting I was hooked. I knew I wanted to be a part of Westlake Charter School. Over the past 10 years, I have been involved at Westlake as a founding parent, a committed substitute, a part-time kindergarten teacher, a kindergarten BTSA mentor teacher and now as a full time kinder teacher. I have taught kindergarten for the past 5 years and absolutely LOVE it. There is just no other grade quite like it! The social and academic grow that happens in kindergarten is amazing.
I am honored to be partnering with you, the parents and families, as together we make this an amazing school year.
Your partner in education, Mrs. Johnson
MEET MRS. HOLADAY:
Hi! My name is Mrs. Danielle Holaday, and I am SO excited to be back at Westlake Charter this school year!!
I am originally from Vacaville, and moved to Sacramento when I attended Sacramento State, and I received my BA and my teaching credential. After I graduated I married my husband, Ryan. I spent my first two years teaching 1st grade in Twin Rivers Unified. After my time in Rio Linda, I was offered a job teaching Kindergarten at Westlake. While working here, I quickly saw how special and unique of a school this truly is!
After my first year here at Westlake I found out that ( to my great surprise) I was pregnant with quadruplets, and then I was put on bedrest shortly thereafter. For the last 5 years I've been blessed to be able to be at home with my children, and also continue to work in the world of education. I have worked as a BTSA mentor, and also spent the last 2 years working with Sacramento State in their education department as a Supervisor with student teachers. This year has been the PERFECT opportunity to be able to come back 'home' to Westlake and teach alongside these amazing teachers, students, families and staff members. I couldn't be more excited for this coming school year, and to be able to partner with each of you to make this year wonderful and memorable school year! There truly is 'No Place Like Home!' Looking forward to an exciting school year! Warm Regards, Mrs. Holaday
