This week all revolved around letters, their sounds and the book Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and made our own trees with the letters of our name on them as we practiced counting the letters in our name. On Friday we had a special Chicka Day Celebration where we got to touch and taste a real coconut.

Here's a closer look at what we did ...
READING:
- LETTER: Ss
- SIGHT WORD: I, see
- Positional Words: Top, Middle, Bottom, Before, Between, After, Inside, Outside, etc.
- Sorting by shape, color and size. Counting to tell how many.
WRITING:
- This week we practiced proper letter formation, always starting at the top, or middle for lowercase letters. We also spent a lot of time oh how to write our names the "kindergarten way," with only a capital at the beginning.
- Do you like coconut? Can you describe how it looked, tasted, felt and smelled?
- What sound does the letter 'Ss' make? Can you tell me a word that starts with 'Ss?'
- Can you show me how to write you name the 'kindergarten way?' Please continue to practice name writing "the Kindergarten way" starting with an uppercase and all the other letters lowercase at home. Thank You!
